Poker Squares Scoring

Each of the 10 winning lines formed by a completed poker square constitutes a 5 card poker hand and scores points according to the probability of that particular hand being dealt from a pack of 52 cards. The following completed poker square contains all 9 winning poker hand categories. Refer to this screen shot when reading the following explanations of these hands:

A Completed Poker Square


Royal Flush 10  J  Q  K  A   100 Points
The best poker hand possible is a Royal Flush consisting of a Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace all of the same suit.
Straight Flush 4  5  6  7  8   75 Points
A Straight Flush consists of a run of five cards all of the same suit. Aces count as high or low; therefore 10,J,Q,K,A and A,2,3,4,5 of the same suit are both valid straight flushes.
Four of a Kind 3  3  3  3 50 Points
Four of a Kind consists of four cards of the same rank with one odd card that can be anything; e.g. four Kings or four Threes.
Full House J  J  J  4  4 25 Points
A Full House consists of three cards of the same rank plus a pair; e.g. three Jacks and two Fours.
Flush 6  10  K  4  2 20 Points
A Flush consists of any five cards of the same suit.
Straight A  2  3  4  5 15 Points
A Straight consists of any run of five cards, where Aces count as high or low; therefore 10,J,Q,K,A and A,2,3,4,5 and 8,9,10,J,Q are all valid straights.
Three of a Kind 4  4  4 10 Points
Three of a Kind consists of three cards of the same rank with two odd cards that can be anything; e.g. three Aces or three Fours.
Two Pairs 7  7  J  J 5 Points
Two pairs of cards and one odd card that can be anything; e.g. two Sevens and two Jacks.
One Pair 10  10 2 Points
A single pair and three odd cards that can be anything; e.g. two Tens.
